The Pilgrim Art Trail
Pilgrim Art Trail was a collaborative art project by Róisin Mc Ardle and Sylvia Callan exploring pilgrimage and places associated with pilgrimage. The project extended beyond the exhibition at Brú na Bóinne and was presented at several important pilgrimage locations.
Sylvia Callan's exhibition records list Pilgrim Art Trail at Newgrange, Lough Derg and Croagh Patrick during 2011, followed by an exhibition at The Back Loft in Dublin in 2012. The project also continued with a pilgrimage journey on the Camino de Santiago.
The choice of Brú na Bóinne as a venue placed the contemporary art project within one of Ireland's most important ancient landscapes. Although the original purpose of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth remains a subject of archaeological study, Brú na Bóinne has continued to attract visitors for generations and remains a place where people engage with landscape, monuments and the past.
