Irish Artist Honor Hales
Honor Hales is an Irish mixed media artist whose work is characterised by vibrant colour, texture and a strong connection with the Irish landscape. After completing art college in the early 1990s, she worked as a freelance graphic designer while developing her own artistic style and exhibiting her work in Ireland and the UK.
In 1998, Honor established Visual Instinct, an independent gallery in Dublin's Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. She later moved to County Laois, where she continued to develop her work across a range of media, from original paintings and limited edition prints to individually hand-painted glass pieces.
Irish landscape, mythology and ancient monuments feature prominently in Honor's art. Newgrange and the wider prehistoric landscape of Brú na Bóinne have inspired a number of her works, combining the distinctive forms of the monuments with rich colour and imaginative interpretations of Ireland's ancient past.
In September 2013, Honor exhibited a collection of new work entitled Landscape, Legend, Myth and Magic at the Brú na Bóinne Visitors Centre. The exhibition included works inspired by Newgrange and the changing seasons, reflecting her continuing interest in the relationship between landscape, legend and Ireland's ancient heritage.
